Ronde van Brugge 2026: Groenewegen Wins Crosswind Classic

Dylan Groenewegen claimed victory at the inaugural Ronde van Brugge on Wednesday 25 March, winning a sprint finish ahead of Jasper Philipsen and Max Kanter. The Dutch sprinter from Unibet Rose Rockets proved the fastest on a day dominated by crosswinds that repeatedly threatened to split the race apart.

The race — formerly known as Classic Brugge-De Panne — started and finished in Bruges for the first time under its new name. Crosswinds created echelons throughout the day, splitting the peloton on multiple occasions, but the race came back together each time before a reduced bunch sprint decided the winner.

Groenewegen timed his effort perfectly in the sprint, holding off Philipsen who had been one of the pre-race favourites. The result gives Groenewegen his second career win at this race, having also won the old Brugge-De Panne back in 2019.

Final podium:

  1. Dylan Groenewegen (Unibet Rose Rockets)
  2. Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Premier Tech)
  3. Max Kanter
